KAMLOOPS – A pair of undefeated teams are set to the do battle this weekend when the 1-0-3 Thompson Rivers WolfPack men's soccer team travel to Victoria to face the 2-0-2 UVic Vikes.

With the WolfPack on the road, the games this weekend will be broadcast live on campus. The Den will be showing all four of the men's and women's soccer games.

Four points from a weekend trip to Kelowna kept a strong start to the season going for the 'Pack. They took down their Interior rivals' courtesy of a late James Fraser goal for a 2-1 win Saturday, before finishing all level with the Heat 1-1 on Sunday.

The Vikes enter the weekend sitting at the top of a tight B.C. division table, their eight points have them two clear of both the WolfPack and Trinity Western Spartans. Last weekend UVic picked up a 1-0 victory and a 0-0 draw with the Fraser Valley Cascades in Abbotsford.

The two teams split a pair of contests in 2019. The WolfPack took down the Vikes 5-0 in Kamloops, before Victoria won the return contest by a score of 3-2 in Victoria.

3 Things

1: All four of the WolfPack soccer games this weekend can be watched live at The Den. The on-campus eatery is extending their hours of operation until 10 p.m. on Friday and opening specifically on Saturday so that WolfPack fans have a place to safely gather and watch the games.

2: James Fraser was named the Canada West and U SPORTS Athlete of the Week for his two-goal weekend in Kelowna. Fraser is one of two student-athletes in TRU history to win the U SPORTS award and did so for the second time in his WolfPack career.

3: This is the first time in program history that the team has gone four games undefeated to start a Canada West season.

By the Numbers

4 – The WolfPack have allowed four goals against through their opening four games of the season, while the Vikes come in with an stingier defence, surrendering just three goals against.

360 – James Fraser is the only outfield player to have appeared in all 360 minutes of action for the 'Pack through four games, as the lone fifth year on the roster continues to lead on the pitch.

6-5-1 – The WolfPack hold a record of 6-5-1 vs. the Vikes in Canada West play but have struggled in Victoria, going just 1-4-1 in the provincial capital.

Scouting the Vikes

The Vikes lead the conference in both shots (42) and corner kicks (26) as they have at times dominated the opposition en route to a conference-best record of 2-0-2. Harrison Ritter and Jose Sagaste have both tallied twice this season for UVic, while Harjot Nijjar has made 12 saves in his four games played.
