KAMLOOPS – The Thompson Rivers WolfPack men's basketball team and head coach
Chad Jacobson have added a top recruit from the province of Manitoba to the squad with the announcement that Chris Piotrowski has committed to the 'Pack.
"We are very excited to have Chris Piotrowski join the WolfPack men's basketball program for the upcoming 2025-2026 season," said Jacobson. "Chris comes to us from a very strong high school program having won a provincial championship where he was key contributor to his team's success. He has been well coached throughout his basketball career at both the high school and prep level and understands what it takes to win."
A 6-0 guard, Piotrowski joins fellow Winnipeger
Dami Farinloye on the WolfPack roster.
"I chose to join the WolfPack because I enjoy the group of guys and I feel really good about the culture Coach Jacobson is building," said Piotrowski. "Coach Jacobson has blessed me with a great opportunity to come in to and contribute to this great group of guys."
A star at the high school level with the Vincent Massey Collegiate Trojans, Piotrowski led the Trojans to the AAAA Manitoba Provincial Boys Championship title in the 2023-24 season and was named the tournament MVP.
"Chris is a very hard working and extremely competitive player with a strong understanding of how to play the game the right way," said Jacobson. "He brings a high level of basketball IQ along with the ability to shoot the basketball at high rate. He is a confident player who believes in himself and his teammates and has proven that he isn't afraid of the big moments."
Playing club basketball for Ignite since the age of seven, Piotrowski joined Central Canada Prep out of high school where he competed for a season in the extremely competitive NPH League in Toronto.
"I see myself as a selfless player who does whatever it takes to win," said Piotrowski. "I bring a good mix of play making and scoring on offence and can be a pest on defence. I feel I can contribute well to the squad with my versatility at the guard spot."
The chance to join Jacobson, a Manitoba product himself, in B.C. is one that Piotrowski leapt at.
"It's always been a dream of mine to live out in B.C. so this opportunity that Coach Jacobson has provided made it easy for me to make this decision to play in Kamloops," said Piotrowski.
Piotrowski, who was ranked as the No. 5 player in the WInnipeg Free Press Boys Basketball Top 10 coming out of high school, plans on studying psychology at TRU.
"Not only will Chris help our team on the court, but he will bring a winning mindset and a positive attitude off the court and in the locker room and will prove to be a great addition to our team's culture," said Jacobson.
