Men's Basketball TRU WolfPack

Bynoe joins ‘Pack from SUNY Niagara after championship season

KAMLOOPS – Bringing with him two years of collegiate level playing experience, Jaeden Bynoe is the latest recruit for the Thompson Rivers WolfPack men's basketball team after he committed to head coach Chad Jacobson and the 'Pack.

"We are happy to announce that Jaeden Bynoe will be joining the WolfPack men's basketball program for the upcoming season," said Jacobson. "Jaeden is a very smooth, crafty guard who can shoot the basketball at a very high level. He provides us with not only the ability to score, but he is an unselfish player with a good feel for the game and sees the floor very well."

A 6-2 guard, Bynoe is originally from Ajax, ON but has spent the last two seasons south of the border playing for SUNY Niagara at the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) level.

"I chose to join the WolfPack because it checks every box for me - basketball, academics, and support-system wise," said Bynoe. "Coach Jacobson showed me what he was looking for and how my game fits with the team."

A guard that can shine on both ends of the court, Bynoe played basketball at Pickering High School – where he was a AAA Provincial Champion - as well as with Kennedy Prep. in the highly-competitive Ontario Scholastic Basketball Association before heading to New York.

"Basketball has been my passion since I was young," said Bynoe. "I started playing competitive basketball when I was eight years old, playing up against older kids. Playing with and against elite talent these past two years at SUNY Niagara in New York helped me grow as a player and a student-athlete."

Playing in 30 games last year for the Thunderwolves, Bynoe recorded  a season-high 25 points in early January and helped his squad capture an NJCAA Region 3 Division 2 Championship.

"Jaeden brings a team-first attitude along with a level of passion and work ethic that will make him a great fit within our team," said Jacobson. "He is a committed student in the classroom and a high character individual that will make a positive impact both on and off the floor as a member of our program."

After speaking with Jacobson, the decision to head back north and join the 'Pack was an easy one for Bynoe.

"Once I started learning more about TRU as a whole and the direction of the program, I felt that this is the best fit for me both on the court and in the classroom. Being at TRU gives me the chance to come back home to Canada and compete at a high level while earning my degree."

Bynoe, who was a NJCAA All-Academic and member of the Dean's List at SUNY Niagara, plans on studying business administration at TRU.
